Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride
On April 18th, the Island County Museum, Kingfisher Bookstore, Historic Whidbey, Coupeville Chamber of Commerce, and Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association will host a Two Lights for Tomorrow event!
Two Lights for Tomorrow is a nationwide initiative to commence the celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States of America.The famous ride of Paul Revere occurred overnight on April 18 – 19, 1775.
Two Lights for Tomorrow originated out of multi-state collaboration at A Common Cause to All in Williamsburg and uses the imagery of that shining light 250 years ago as a uniting call to action today for our fellow citizens, no matter where they are, to commemorate and remind ourselves that our history is about working together for a better tomorrow.
Schedule for the 18th of April
10:00 am. At Kingfisher Bookstore, there will be a reading of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" abridged poem and a craft project for preschoolers
4:00 PM At Kingfisher Bookstore, there will be a reading of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" for Grade schoolers, followed by a craft lantern project.
7:00 Gather at the Elks lodge to observe our Old North Church belfry for the two lanterns and the reading of the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere
Followed by a short history talk and reception at the Museum
